Number Two
Kathleen and Ralph took me to my second chemo session. Dr. Tuscano was waiting for me when I got there because my blood counts were flagged. My white cells were quite low so the nurses couldn't give me the drugs until they got the go-ahead from the doc. He told me that I'd get the treatment, but that I'd have to give myself a shot called Neulasta, which increases the white cells in my bone marrow. Each shot is $3,000, so I'm awaiting authorization from my insurance company. If it's not the low red cells, it's the low white ones. I wonder if the green ones are okay. All in all, it was a fine session. The nurse was great and made me feel normal.
